About Us

Established in 2023

4HER2HER is a women-led Malawian feminist organization whose principal aim is to contribute to the empowerment of young women and girls by promoting and protecting their sexual and reproductive health rights. We seek to attain this through advocating for gender equality, human dignity and social justice. Our organisation operates under 4 thematic areas as discussed below:

1.   SRHR Education: this first thematic area focuses on reaping the benefits of Comprehensive Sexuality Education by providing age-appropriate and accurate information about SRHR. With this theme at the centre of 4HER2HER, the organisation creates and raises awareness for the implementation of comprehensive educational programs and materials that cover topics such as consent, puberty, contraception, STI prevention and menstrual health.

2.   Access to Reproductive Health Services: the availability of knowledge on SRHR is only part of the solution; having access to the actual resources, services and opportunities is what betters the outcomes of women and girls and allows them to live healthier lives. As such, 4HER2HER aims at ensuring that young women and girls have access to affordable and youth-friendly reproductive health services. This ranges from consultations, screenings, testing, counselling and treatment.

3. Gender Equality and Empowerment: As a feminist organisation, we stand for promoting gender equality by challenging and addressing discriminatory social norms as well as empowering young women and girls by equipping them with information, resources and support. These are skills and tools that enable young women and girls to make more informed choices about their bodies, sexuality, reproductive health; thus, fostering autonomy and self-determination.

4.  Advocacy for Policy Change: our focus is to promote awareness, destigmatize issues and mobilize support for positive change. As such, we value and leverage our networks to change policies and laws that restrict young women and girls’ access to SRHR services and information, while advocating for the implementation of comprehensive SRHR programs in the school curriculum.
